Salary

We distinguish between passive (on-call allowance) and active (procedure) pay, supplemented by a monthly expense allowance.

Passive (On-Call) Allowance

You receive this automatically for every 24-hour on-call shift, whether called in or not:

  • Primary on-call: €60 per 24 hours

  • Secondary on-call: €35 per 24 hours

Active Pay (Procedure)

Paid from the moment you arrive at the ORS hub in Diegem to collect materials until you return the equipment after the procedure:

  • Kidney Preservationist in training: €17.- / hour

  • Certified Kidney Preservationist: €22.- / hour

  • Tutor Kidney Preservationist: €27.- / hour

(The criteria and progression between these levels are explained in the training-section)

Monthly Expense Allowance

A fixed €25 per month is provided to cover potential transportation costs, phone expenses, or other minor incidental costs related to the role.

All payments are made gross (before taxes and social contributions).

Challenge

Thanks to its exclusive nature, Organ Recovery Systems offers a unique role in which kidney preservationists can challenge themselves, build resilience, and strengthen essential soft skills. It is a demanding student job that provides exceptional learning opportunities, and you will find yourself in many different situations that challenge you and help you learn and grow tremendously.

Growth and development

Our goal is not only to train competent kidney preservationists for the centers. Our aim is to offer each student opportunities for both professional and personal development. We want to push you to learn as much as possible from this role, contributing to your professional life in the future.

To support this, we have an "ORS Library" where you will have access to scientific articles as well as books that can aid in your development, such as "Atomic Habits," "Extreme Ownership," "48 Laws of Power," and more

Autonomy and responsibility

As a Kidney Preservationist, you work independently at the donor hospital, which grants you significant autonomy and places real responsibility in your hands. We actively encourage you to make confident, well-considered decisions and to take full ownership of your role from day one.

Small team

We intentionally keep our team small to ensure a high-quality experience. As a kidney preservationist, you’ll work within a close-knit group and regularly interact with the same highly motivated people. This structure enables us to offer consistent, personalized guidance and strong support.

It’s up to you

Your development as a kidney preservationist is largely in your hands. We provide many opportunities, and you decide how far you want to take them. For those who wish to assume additional responsibilities, we do our best to recognize that commitment—whether through conference tickets or participation in other projects. Nothing is ever mandatory, but we actively encourage and reward initiative.
